Let’s start out with the obligitory greeting: "Happy New Year". Now that I’ve satisfied tradition, it’s time to clear my head from this weekend. So without further adieu, it’s time for Weekend Update, brought to you by APV Electronics, who still have my computer in their clutches, making site updates and online communications rather difficult. My kingdom for a decent computer…but I digress.
Friday
The grand expedition I had originaly planed to the Headliner turned into a cozy little three person outing, but it’s was emensly enjoyable. Probably more enjoyable than it would have been with more people. Good music, good conversation, and even a little dancing to boot. Been a long time since I got my groove-thang on. ^_^
Saturday
In a word…snow. Lots and lots of snow. The northeast got hit hard, and even us Jersey Shore kiddies got the white stuff. Being snowbound did have its advantages though. I did some long over-due cleaning, watched Scary Movie and Road Trip for the first time, and just relaxed.
Sunday
New Years Eve. Big party night. Big party I was suposed to host night. But a funny thing happened on the way to 2001…I forgot to let everyone know the start time and then went to play pizza dilevery boy for a few hours. The insuing lack of communication between me and my friends led them to beleive there was no party to be had, so they started drinking. The results: Party shifted locations to Jesse’s house, I did one too many celibratory shots, and found myself standing in a snowbank vacating the offending drinks from my system.
But at least I remember most of what happened this year. Big difference from last year.
Monday
College football held little of my attention on New Years Day. Too many friggin’ bowl games these days. But it was still a nice day, considering I was still a bit queasy from the night before. I managed to fit a seven course dinner with family into my hectic schedule, along with a very rewarding phone call (and I’m not telling who it was. Nah nah nah nah naaaaah!). I also started to re-read one of my favorite series of books, the Dragonlance Chronicles (here’s one that’s still in print). Some of the best fantasy novels ever written, in my not-so-humble opinion. All in all, a good holiday weekend.
Now all we have to do is put up with the loads of lame refferences to 2001: A Space Odyssey. Where is my friggin’ HAL 9000? ^_^
