Cleaning and preparing

Two days into my unemployment and I haven’t really given myself a chance to dwell on the bad side of things. It’s amazing what having some free time on your hands will do to all the chores that you’ve been putting off around the house — they actually get done.

Some of the chores have even turned profitable. For example, I cleared away a mountain of paperwork that had built up on my desk and in boxes under it and found both $75 in Sports Athority gift cards and a check from my auto insurance company to pay for the damages to my car that fell behind the desk. Talk about unexpeded, but very pleasant, suprises!

Come Monday morning, the job hunt begins in ernest. I’ll be using the rest of this week to polish my resume and throw together some kind of portfolio, both things I had been planning to do down the road anyway, but considering the state of affairs in my life right now I think it’s only logical to move them to the top of the list.
