I found both of these posts while cleaning the database, written becasue I thoguth the first one had died a painful death in the digital ether. Both have their own point of view on the same events. Compare and wonder!

I’m starting to revisit some of my old time killing habbits from a few years ago. Case in point: Saturday night I had way too much energy for my own good. I was still wide awake when everyone else was calling it a night, so I decided to drive around a little. Before I knew it, I found myself racing through the Holland Tunnel and into New York City.
In some parts of the city people were literaly dancing in the streets, being the eve of the Puerto Rican Day parade and all. I even wittnessed my first sunrise in NYC, a rather remarkable sight as the beams of light cut through the concrete canyons.
Sunday wasn’t as eventful, although I did get some quality 4 a.m., caffine induced web designing done. Monday was well on the way to being the same, but an e-mail from a prospective New York employer changed that. Seems as though I’m one of the final two they’re considering for a position. Keep your fingers crossed….

Never underestimate the power of a life less structured. Take Saturday night for example: I did my usual hang out with the friends routine, but just as I was getting started they wore down. With a more structured life I might have just gone home and tried to get some sleep, but instead I found myself driving through the Holland Tunnel and into NYC just because it was something to do.
And I’m glad I did. The city was gearing up for the Puerto Rican Day parade with jubulient people, Puerto Rican flags and police baricades scattered all over Manhattan. It was great to just walk around in that buzz at four in the morning and let my eyes soak it all in. I was even treated to a sunrise over the city as I drove out of the Lincoln Tunnel on my way home.
Even Sunday, where all I basicly did was sit in front of my monitor until 5 a.m. working on my design skills was a breath of fresh air into my life. I had been denying myself impulses like these for the last two years or so and this was a nice step back to fond times. I must remember to it again sometime. ^_^
