Snow, slopes, songs and sirens of infectious quality

I managed to fall down the mountain much less than my first time snowboarding, and at times actually felt I knew what I was doing. But on my last run most of the trails had turned to ice and my subsequent falls onto said ice hurt more than anything I experienced on my first trip.

So what did I wind up doing later that night? Soaking away my soreness in the tub? Curled up in the fetal position in my bed? No, I ended up dancing.

You read that right. Nick and I stopped by to visit his girlfriend Vivian and her sister Julie for some hot cocoa (well, vegetarian hot cocoa if you want to be technical). Instead, we were treated to a full blown meal and then out to the living room for a spur of the moment dance party, complete with disco ball lighting effect — very nice considering this was in their living room. Before I knew it, the mood of the party changed from 70′s and 80′s dance music to a more global rhythm feel and Nick and I were accompanying Paul Simon in a makeshift drum circle (is it still considered a drum circle with only two people and one drum between them?). Although the thought was mentioned later on, we never did get around to having that cocoa.

I had such a good time, and was truly reluctant to leave, but alas, even the best of parties need to come to an end. Many thanks to my snowboarding mentor and the two charmers he introduced to me yesterday. We really have to do it again sometime soon…. ^_^

indeed a drum circle is whatever you like it to be, next time we’ll pull out the pots and pans…as we veggie heads tend to have them and use them often in cooking…

next party e-vite will be BYOG (bring your own djembe)

we too enjoyed the “insta-dance-party…just add disco ball” and love guests. you and nick, of course, are welcome back anytime for some “Ah-laska” cocoa, because alas, you are correct my friend, we never did enjoy chocolatey libations.

    warm soy milk awaits…
