One for the record books, GB&U style

There’s only one way for me to describe yesterday; Good, Bad and Ugly. Hope you’re up for a long read:

  • Good: Remembering that I had enough cash left in my bank account to get desperately needed gas for the ol’ Cavailer so I could get to the train station.
  • Bad: Finding out that after gas, I had a grand total of $2.02 in my bank account. *groan*
  • Good: Getting on the train feeling better than when I woke up. Considering I was fighting through cold like symptoms the day before, this was good news. Did I beat it?
  • Bad: Having the cold symptoms come roaring back about 3/4 of the way through my morning train trip along with a major runny nose and me not having a single Kleenex to use. Guess not — Ugh!
  • Good: Getting my the office and receiving my monthly paycheck! That always rocks. ^_^
  • Bad: Getting told by my boss that I’d have to get to work extra early to work on a big project that just landed in our laps with a one-day turnaround time on it, guarenteeing that I’d be getting up way too early to start my day.
  • Good: Making icons for a project I’m currently on at work for the rest of the day. I like this graphics type stuff. ^_^

We intrrupt “Good, Bad and Ugly” for this notice: Sometime around 3pm , Don called asking for a lift home from Newark Internation Airport. Figuring he had nothing better to do and being the good friend he is, Andrew Fischler said he would meet him there at 9. Details to follow….

What the fuck? Where was I? Oh yeah:

  • Bad: Realizing halfway back from NY on the train that the RANA concert I was so keyed up to see on Wednesday night was in fact taking place that night. It’s a frustrating feeling to know that you paid for a ticket to a sold-out, once in a lifetime type show that you wern’t going to see because you were a dumbass and couldn’t read your calendar. Doh!
  • Good: Having an otherwise relaxing train ride with lots of seat to myself on the way back to the station and my car, then hitting no traffic and not missing a single turn on my way up to the airport.
  • Bad: Not realizing that major renovations are taking place at said airport, making an already confusing situation that much harder to deal with. Cones, baricades and 50,000 signs — not fun to deal with.
  • Good: Actually seeing the exit I’m supposed to make to get to the pick-up area of the terminal where I’m supposed to meet Don at.
  • Bad: Not seeing the exit I’m supposed to make until AFTER I passed it, getting lost trying to find the turn-around point and leaving the airport ground in an attempt to get back to the enterance, winding up on Interstate 76 heading west instead. Grrrr!
  • Good: Finding an exit to turn around and head back to the airport at after a few frantic moments of frustration and cursing.
  • Bad: Picking THE most confusing of exits in all of New Jersey to use as my turn around point. Oh, and as an added bonus, my car’s CD player started acting up, forcing me to listen to the radio (something I loathe to do these days). *groan*
  • Good: Getting back on the interstate and FINALLY reaching the pick-up point at the terminal all while the new Queens Of The Stone Age single accompanied me on K-ROCK. At least when I’m forced to listen to radio, it’s a good song. ^_^
  • Bad: Getting chased out of the pick-up point by a cop car for standing too long in a “no-standing zone” with Don still nowhere to be seen. Argh!!!
  • Good: Finally getting in touch with Don via cell phone, finding a parking space, meeting him and getting out of the parking parking garage all in a quick enough time that I didn’t have to pay for the parking. Woo-hoo!!!
  • Bad: Almost getting run off the ramp by some jackass at the entrance ramp to the Garden State Parkway from the NJ Turnpike by some fucking jackass who couldn’t decide which way he wanted to go. Bad drivers suck!
  • Good: Getting a good meal and a few beers with Don at a local watering hole, getting an unexpected refund check from the state on my condo tax payments AND winning $28 from a NJ Lottery scratch-off ticket I bought while getting NyQuil. The lottery ticket was just the icing on all of this because I usually don’t buy them, but I figured the way the day was going maybe I’d get a break in my luck. Guess I figured right!

So that’s yesterday in a nutshell. Oh yeah, and as for the ugly, that must have been the way I looked waking up today at 6am to start my day! ^_^
