Yasser Arafat is pledging presidential, parliamentary and municipal elections would be held at the beginning of January. What’s more, he’s condemming terrorisim as a means to the Palistinian ends of a seperate state and throwing his support against the US war on Terror:
“I’d like to tell the whole world and in particular the United States we are fully prepared to participate in any international effort to eradicate that kind of terrorism within the framework of the United Nations and international legitimacy,” he said.
Of course when the Israeli Prime Minister’s office remarks that “Yasser Arafat is irrelevant and as such his speech”, then it makes me think that this move may be a little late in the game. Let’s hope not.
