The first heralds of change

I left my house under a charcoal gray sky, a hint of rain on my windshield. Twisting and turning my way down the back roads I travel every day on my way to the big, bad city I noticed a subtle change in to colors that usually pass by in a blur.

The canopy of green had just a touch of red and gold in their midst. It’s only a matter of weeks now before they’re on fire with hues of ambers, oranges, reds and golds — that last gasp of life before they leave their summer homes and rest peacefully on the ground below.
