Tomorrow is Election Day and politicians are pulling out all the stops here in the NY metro area. We’ve got a particularly viscous Senate race in New Jersey (in which I’m exercising my right to vote for a 3rd party candidate), an even more brutal Gubernatorial race in NY, with many commercials that want to make me wretch.
One from the Gullisano camp in particular shows citizens saying such things as “I want my vote to count”; as if voting for anyone else will waste your vote. A disgusting concept to plant in someone’s mind if you ask me. I only wish I could say that the race has stayed above the mud-slinging level, but this is NY politics after all. Who the hell has run a clean campaign since before the days of Tammany Hall?
Now if life could just imitate art, such as last weeks episode of West Wing where they staged their great Presidential Debate (which had me openly cheering as Bartlett torn into the Bush-like character they have created to run against him — searching for the “ten word answer” was friggin’ brilliant). Too bad they had weeks and months to script together their debate answers….
