Minority computer company eyeing majority record company

In what I would have to charicterize as a shot straight out of the bleachers in left field, the LA times is claiming that Apple is reportedly in talks to buy Universal Music from the shell-shocked and battle worn Vivendi Universal. This would give Apple control of the world’s largest record company. The price being floated around at the moment is $6 billion.

This could turn out to be a very music-minded month for Apple, with rumors of their online music selling service, updates to the iPod and iTunes all to be revealed at the end of the month.
