Cryptic Reporting

Saturday, April 5th, 2003

Earlier this evening, a local Township man was found on the floor of his room in front of his desk, clutching his foot and writihing in pain. Unpon further examination wittnesses claim he had shot himself in the foot. When questioned the man confirmed that he had indeed shot himself in the foot.

“I’m always doing it. I must have shot myself about 6 or 7 times now, all in the same place.” When questioned as to why he would obviously keep inflicting pain upon himself he could not find a specific reason. “Maybe one of these days I’ll miss.”

S.O.S.: The budget knife is cutting out all the Jazz

Being all wrapped up in this internet thing has had the unexpected side effect of making me a better citizen. Through the power of the web, e-mail and other such technical niceties I am able to voice my opinions on subjects that matter to me in a matter of minutes where in the past I may not have due to the amount of time it takes.

Once such issue is the new 2004 New Jersey budget that Governor McGreevey laid out on February 3rd, and it’s total elimination of all state funding for arts and culture which would directly affect the best alternative to commercial radio ever (WBGO), among other things.

In less than five minutes I wrote our Governor, two state Senators and an Assemblyman voicing my displeasure over the proposed move in the most civil of tones. Now I don’t care if you like WBGO or not. I don’t even care if you’ve ever heard of the station before. If you care about the arts and happen to be a citizen in New Jersey, please let your voice be heard.

Is five minutes time too much to ask?

It’s time to gut the works again….

Thursday, April 3rd, 2003

I noticed a lot of extra copies of comments are getting posted. I finally realized just how bad things are when I received no less that 26 comments over a 45 minute span, and 24 of them were copies. Ugh!

Short term notice: When posting comments, if you receive an error that a page could not load or something similar, please try refreshing the page before reposting (copy your comments to the clipboard first!). Your post more than likey did get through, although my server wants you to think otherwise so it can horde them all to itself.

Seems as though my last upgrade of MovableType unleashed a few gremlins into the pipes, and the only sure-fire way to get rid of them is to gut the system and install anew. I grumble at the necesity, but so be it.

Well, if I have to clear out the pipes, I might as well repaint while I’m at it. ^_^

Unbeknownst to most, I have been secretly plotting and prodding along with the long overdue facelife. While I wanted to have more ready for the initial relaunch, I figure no better time than the present.

Consider yourself notified: sometime this weekend I will be replacing the current “Plastecine Dream” with a new one. This will be the first step in a multi-parted process to expand Fischler.org and bring back some old favs (i.e. the Photo Album, but that’s still far off).

Wait a second? Did I just publicly set a deadline? ^^;;
