So here I sit, reclined comfortably in my couch-bed, glass of wine in one hand and a good book in the other. Headphones on delivering auditory distraction while the gentle gasps of Isabel’s outstretched arms rustle through my open window. Not like I plan my Thursday night to play out like this, but all things considered it’s not a bad way to spend it.
For the most part the big key to the utter enjoyment of my evening is that fact that I’ve kept my TV off for most of it; a practice that I don’t indulge in often enough. Maybe I should schedule more of these “TV free” nights more often.

or just do what I did ….. forget to own a TV for 2-3 years. Truly clears thy noggin, if you ask moi (which you didn’t)
And this is all because TNT cancelled The Rockford Files.
Bastards.
So out goes my cable box, TV, TV stand, remote, VCR, and anything else I felt like throwing against the wall that night. Haven’t truly looked back since.
And a couple of questions to end my rant:
What the hell is Survivor?
Does anyone with an IQ over 19 still watch MTV these days?
Who the hell is Dennis Miller and why does everyone keep saying I sound like him when I go on my vitriolic diatribes against man and nature?
as ye were ….
sorry…i can’t get over “Writen”….8-)
Ian:
I am slowing beginning to understand your brand of dementia. Perhaps you should invest in a used black and white TV, drink down a nice prozac smoothie and take in some “Law & Order”. That might help you a bit.
As for the Dennis Miller thing, he’s a comedian — and about 100 times funnier than you. ^_^
Jon:
I’ve fix the egregious spelling error in the title. I was sure that my spell check was on the up and up, but obviously it was slacking a bit.
“Waiting is” …
Hmmm. Only 100 times funnier? That’s not so bad, comparitively speaking. I’ve compiled a list for reference purposes:
Don – 4,579 times funnier
Cartman – 2,144 times funnier
Carrot Top – 101 times funnier
Andysocial – 743 1/2 times funnier
Shayne McGovern – 666 times funnier
Adam Sandler – not funny at all
Krusty the Clown – 139 times funnier
When life is brought to scale, that doesn’t seem so awful. Guess I’ll check him out.
I did see “Death to Smoochy” again last night, and I will go on record to say that Edward Norton is probably the greatest actor of our generation. That guy can play anything.
Back to work I go. My boss is staring at me.
