Remember some time ago when I got to waxing philosophical on my friend giving up a kid to addoption? Well, I’m happy to report that things have changed for the better and I can now shed a little more light onto the subject.
The friend in question was my long time pal Don; a man with whom I’ve shared many an adventure and who happens to be one of the most decent human beings I’ve ever known. Well some months ago Don had gone and gotten a girl he had been seeing pregnant. He was all set to do the right thing and get married to help raise the child right (as I mentioned here before) but that was just the started of a chain of strangeness of which I will never know the depths of. For a long while it looked like the child would be given up for adoption and was even in the hands of child services for a short time, just waiting for mom and dad to sign the final paperwork.
But in one of the best of turns of fate I have heard in a long, long time I am happy to say that Don and Mary have worked through the roughness and are going to keep their son. On top of that, they’ve just moved into a home in Beachwood together – about as full of a 180 as you could hope to have.
So all is right with the world and their is now one more Donald Donahue in it — the 4th in a running series. Congratulations to the parents (and lord help the rest of us). ^_^
