Those of you who follow metal music are gonna find this a little hard to read: Dimebag Darrell is dead, along with four others. The shooting took place at a Damageplan concert in Ohio. The shooter also died at the scene. Dimebag is best known for his work with Pantera. Much respect out to you DB. You will be missed.
Update: The mainstream press has got a hold of the story now.
Update 2: In-depth details regarding the incident.

I didn’t know Dimebag and Vinnie were brothers!?
RIP Dimebag you’ll always be THE cowboy from hell….
now to Ohio land of Bush loving gun toting idiots… this is what happens when you lift a requirement for having a license to carry a weapon… you give more wackos the opp to pull shit like this… and in the Rust Belt where employment runs low and insanity runs high… this ain’t a good thing…
or at least that’s just my heavily biased opinion from my 1.5 year tenure in this wasteland…

If your gun law theory was to hold water, it would have to be based in fact. Vermont is the ONLY state in the nation where you do not need any sort of liscence to cary a weapon. Thank you, have a nice day.
Joanna, I have to agree with my gall bladder on this one (and that pains me to say so, considering the badmouthing I gave it in some other post).
First, we don’t know enough details yet to go making wild accusations. Second, this clown somehow got a gun past security, so they dropped the ball and need to be scrutinized. Third, political affiliation has absolutely nothing to do with this. Forth, while good gun control laws do reduce the number of weapons on the street, there is nothing saying he didn’t buy the gun out of state and bring it into Ohio. Or maybe it was bought legally. Or was a hand me down even.
I’d say heavily biased is right. Maybe the grief has you not using all of that brian that I know you possess. Before we go passing blame on anyone for this tragedy, let’s wait to hear from the investigators. Until then, let’s mourn the lost lives.
perhaps Andy you and your gallbladder are right as I do hold strong biases against this state… but regardless…
its a sad and tragic event that has left me and the rest of the metal world sad, disgusted, and confused.
my heart goes out to the Abbott family and the hardcore Pantera and Damageplan fans
Andy’s gall bladder is a smart mother fucker. Gun control laws are kinda crazy. If you remeber back to the LIRR shootings, Collin Furgesson purchased his gun in California, which is the toughest state in which to buy a firearm. Gun control laws keep guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens, not criminals.
“Gun control laws keep guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens, not criminals”
Thank you. I’m glad someone’s making sense.
I am not sure if that is patented Keogh sarcasm, but if it isn’t than I am glad to hear other people are making sense.
Nope. No sarcasm with that one. The earliest gun control laws were aimed at blacks in the south after the Civil War, so the former plantation owners (and basically anyone in general) could easily pluck them off without having any retaliation mechanism in place. Not to mention it also prevented former slaves from defending themselves as they tried to establish property ownership for the first time in their lives as free men.
So, in essence, I am against any law that prevents a United States citizen from exercising the ability to arm him/herself.
NICE, as long as I have known you I still have trouble sniffing out your sarcasm from time to time. Perhaps that is because it is drier than burnt toast in Death Valley? The notion that gun control laws would keep guns from criminals is preposterous. “Good morning local gun shop clerk. I am planning a string of armed robberies. Could you show me something in a large caliber that is easily concealible and wont clash with my ski mask.” Yea, right!
Dime bag bro you will be missed. The Metal Hammer Golden Gods AWARDS WAS FOR YOU MAN. R,I.P
