Off on the right foot

Welcome to the new year. We’re fast approaching the midway mark on the first decade in century number twenty-one. Time for the aught years to start leaving their indelible mark on history as we march on to the teens. Up to now it’s been a massive amount of strife and woe introduced into the world — 9/11, election headaches world wide (US, Ukraine, Iraq, etc.) and natural disasters the likes of which haven’t been seen in generations.

At least on a personal level things are taking a continuing series of upward-turning curves, small though they may be. It gives me some comfort against all the woe and worry. I know I can’t be the only one who looks to ‘05 with guarded optimism. After all the shit the first four years has given us, I think society as a whole is due for some good tidings. Anyone else with me on this one?

  1. Mike says:

I see a good year for myself and my family. Unfortunatly, I do not see a good year for the world. The new Palistinian leader is looking to rid the world of Isrial (eventually), the Iraqi elections are around the corner (more violance to come), N. Korea is threatening a nuclear standoff unless the US leaves S. Korea, The Euro is kicking our ass, the Mexican government published a book about how to cross the boarder illegaly, and we’re looking at probably 200,000 dead from the tragedy in Southern Asia. Oh yeah, and there will be no Stanley Cup Finals!

  2. Thanks Mike. You single-handedly killed my New Year’s buzz. Well, at least with everything you mentioned 2005 stands to be an interesting year.
