Of fluoride and fillings

I think after this afternoon, I’ve officially been kicked out of the Crest Kid’s club. I mean, with the horror story report the dentist gave me this afternoon — my first visit to a dentist in about 6 years — I find it hard to believe they won’t come and pull my membership card.

The gory details? At least 6 cavities, a couple of root canals (with a porcelain crown on one for good measure), two previous fillings that will have to be redone because the jackass who did them made them too large, and a pair of impacted wisdom teeth as the crown jewel in the menagerie of dental delights. I’m getting a bit faint just thinking about it all.

At least I don’t have to worry about all the work bankrupting me, thanks to the wonders of dental insurance. That way, I can put all my energy into freaking out over the impending drill and cut sessions — currently slated to start on Sept. 12. Here’s hoping they can knock my ass out for most of the big jobs.

ask for the gas my friend, there is nothing better than the gas, when I had my wisdom teeth removed, it was just about the best high evvvverrrr!

  2. My question is, will they give me the gas for the root canals? Those are going to be coming up first, and to be honest, those are scaring me more than wisdom teeth.

Maybe if I slip the Dentist and extra finsky….

  3. Rebekit says:

see I’ve never had a route canal, but you can beg, you can tell them you’re nervous as hell, and they need to give you the gassssssss. Get the GAAASSSS!!!!
I have a doc, that extracted my wisdom teeth, the guy was big on the gas…if your guy is not…give me a call and I’ll help you switch docs.

lol! rebekit. all about the drugs. when my wisdom teeth were extracted, i was under the whole time. but when my sister had her root canal, she was wide awake and i got to watch. it was facsinating.

  5. Fascinating? Maybe you’re in the wrong profession. I have a dental hygienist friend who might be able to hook you up with the name and number of a good school if you want. ^_^

  6. Pandave says:

school. can’t she just hook me up? but it was one of those i want to look away but can’t look away. i would tell you more but you may not want to know. ignorance IS bliss…

  7. Yes, yes…ignorance. Mmm, sweet, sweet ignorance….

  8. [...] I go back into the dentist this afternoon to cap off — in porcelain — the work on my first ever root canal. Besides being stuck in a chair with my mouth open for three hours, occasionally choking on my own spit, things went fairly well. A lot better than I had imagined back when I got the horrifying news at my cleaning a few weeks ago. [...]
