Last night I went out with some very good company to the Angelika to see the new Michel Gondry film, The Science of Sleep; a madcap romp through the world of dreams.
Lots of fresh ideas, interesting visuals, and some truly funny dialog kept me quite entertained. Of course, those who don’t like subtitles might want to steer clear, as the dialog is split between French and English. Me, I don’t mind them so much, so it’s all good. The ending was a little strange, but considering the way the film attempted to blur the line between reality and dreams, I guess that’s forgivable. Just chalk it all up to the insanity of the ride, I suppose.
Aside: If there has been one historic truth about me, it’s that I have not been much of a movie goer. Of course, having New York city as your backyard tends to get you out into the theater more often. I’ve probably seen more movies in the past year than in the last five back in my Jersey shore digs.

That sounds really cool. Considering that I just started polyphasic sleep again and I had this really weird reality-blurring dream (http://kirkkahn.com/blog/2006/09/26/sleep-for-hours-in-20-minutes/), I should check this movie out if it’s still playing at Angelika.
Yeah, the film should still be playing there for a bit — it wasn’t released all that long ago. As far as semi-lucid dreams go, I can somewhat relate to your blog post, though mine as usually right before I wake up in the morning. That means if the dream is good and I want to try and finish it, it usually makes me wake up late and throws the rest of my day off completely.
