Just a hair over two months since it was released upon the world, and the Nintendo Wii is still a hard item to find. More than once I’ve bounced from store to store in search of one to call my own, but until this morning, I had no luck.
The late night worker that I am, I found myself still awake at 6 am, wondering if I should hit the sack or not. Then I remembered reading that Target was sitting on Wii shipments until today, and for once I was actually going to be up early enough to be at one of the stores when the doors opened.
Thankfully I live within shouting distance of three Target stores, because the first one I went to in Jersey City was sold out by the time I got there at 8 am. I was shocked that they were still making people use tickets to even get a chance to buy a system, and my heart sunk a bit when I overheard someone say they had been in line since 4:30 am. But it was a much different scene up at the North Bergen store. By the time I walked up to the electronics department at 8:30 am, the line had shrunk to only 3 people, and there were at least 5 beautifully boxed systems sitting in a giant rolling metal cage.
The math was in my favor, for once. ^_^

You only picked up one?
Well, I could have gone the overtly capitalistic route and grabbed a second system for eBay, or I could have gone the good Samaritan route and grabbed a second one for a friend, but in the end it was the desire to play games and afford to eat that made my decision for me.
I might do okay with the paycheck, but I’m still a long way away from a $250 investment not being a big deal with heavy ramifications on how I live between checks.
And I had no idea you were even interested in the Wii, Nick. I thought you were a man of poop jokes and not of video games? Can you enlighten me a bit here?
After hearing they were going for six figures on eBay and after hearing your tale, the capitalistic bug hit.
Just to clarify. I’ll take poop jokes and third grade humor over video games any day.
I hate you!!!
Yes, what a lovely thing to say. Well, if I’m hated, then I guess I shouldn’t bother bringing the Wii down with me when I visit dear sister, should I? ^_^
I love you!!!
