Pure and simple, this is probably the only time when it’s going to be socially acceptable to laugh at child abuse (faked, of course).

In my recent bout of absenteeism from blogging, a new acquaintance introduced me the to the wit, humor and smooth sounds of Yatch Rock — a currently canceled web series over at Chanel 101. And I mourn it’s canceled status verily, because the 10 episodes they have are brilliant beyond belief.
Set in the late 70′s/early 80′s music world of soft rock superkings, the creators deftly weave in their humorous song creation stories with the likes of Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Christopher Cross, Dr. Dre, Michael Jackson, Hall and Oates, David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen, Steve Perry, The Eagles…not to mention my beloved Steely Dan.
You can dig around on the show’s Wikipedia page for more background, or just dive right into the episodes. If you’re crunched for time and want some recommendations, I’d say hit episodes #7 (I Keep Forgettin), #9 (Runnin’ With The Devil), and #10 (FM).
“In fact we like you. We like you very much.”
Thursday, February 22nd, 2007What’s the best way to counter intolerance and ignorance? Why, lampoon the absurdity of it all, of course! That’s just what George Takei — the gay actor of Star Trek fame — has done in this little video response to the unbridled display of homophobia shown by former NBA player Tim Hardaway last week.
If you can’t laugh at this, then you best go get yourself some therapy right away.

- The Daily Show has had another one of their reporter rotations, bringing in a new cast of characters to spoof the news. Among the new bunch is Demetri Martin and his “Trendspotting” segment. This time around he’s taking a look social networking sites such as MySpace and Friendster.

- Over on Current TV, Super News takes their animated lens and gives the spotlight to an eyewitness to Dick Cheney’s hunting accident: the quail himself.
Hat tip to Katie at work for the Trendspotting link.
