In Common

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

So, what exactly does the US have in common with Liberia and Myanmar? Well, for one thing, we’re the only three countries that don’t use the metric system.

FYI, I love the info-graphics here. It’s the main reason I’m posting this (aside from the interesting factoid).

Let’s give them something to ignore

Okay, I’ve got six minutes to write up a post here if I want to keep this new streak going, but I’ll be damned if I know what to write here. It could be about the beer-garden-esque bar I was just at, where liter mugs of beer flowed freely. Maybe the cool new Wii game someone gave me in honor of my recently passed birthday? The weekend of tech support, birthday dinners and concerts (in honor of my sister — not me) ahead of me? What about the hellish schedule I’ll have to keep to deliver this web-site update to my friend for May 1st?

Really, i think I had something more poignant to talk about. Tis a shame I forgot it between Union Square and my front door.

Pure, uncut filler

I’ve got nothing to say, and no time to say it in. The cheap stunts one pulls when trying to keep a daily posting streak going….

The wild wind

Wednesday, March 15th, 2006

Well, the warm snap was nice while it lasted.   The wind whipped down the palisades like a freight-train outside my window, hauling car after car of savage, pre-historic monsters in the midst of a ravenous hunger.   The gnashing of teeth and scraping of claws drowned out only be the howling and screaming of the beasts in transit.

This morning’s feature:   Return of the winter coat.   Hopefully it’s just a limited engagement.

All the wisdom in the world comes from “Sports”

Funny the things that can spring forth from people in an IM conversation. Take for instance the words of good friend Nick (Keep Huey Lewis and the News’ “I Want a New Drug” in your head as you read):

i need a new job,
one that does what it should
one that won’t keep me up all night
or make me sleep all day
I need a new job
one that will pay me
better than the one I have
with less of the stupidiy
I need a new job
one that won’t make me restless
wondering what to do
wondering like I feel when I at work IMing you
i have a postcard to do now

He’s a good guy at a job that’s sucking his soul away. If you have a better place for him to work, I’m sure he’d love to talk with you. I can kind of relate to the pain.
